Period Properties and Conservation Area

Station Road and its immediate streets and wider surrounding roads have a wealth of period properties. Chingford Green at the southern end of Station Rd boasts its very own conservation area with 16 listed buildings, 2 of which, the Church of St Peter & St Paul and Carbis Cottage, are grade 2 listed.

Epping Forest and Outdoor Attractions

At the far end of Station Road beyond the Station, Epping Forest opens out onto Chingford Plain. Queen Elizabeths Hunting Lodge, built in 1543 for Henry VIII and Butlers Retreat, built mid-19th century (now a café) are both a short walk from the Station. The Plains lead into the denser parts of the Forest – the paths and tracks a haven for walkers and cyclists. Station Road has a range of shops and eateries from independents to some well-known chains.
